Something I’ve learned while on this journey. When you lose a child, you join a group. A group of mothers and fathers. A group of grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters, who have lost a grandchild, niece, nephew, brother or sister. You join a “sisterhood” and a “brotherhood” of souls who continue to search for peace, and comfort as they grieve with a completely shattered heart that seems it will never be put back together. A heart that can never be whole again.
Being a part of this group has brought some amazing people into our life, into our home, and onto our front porch. People from all over, some we do not even know, have come to show their support, have dropped off gifts on our porch, have mailed us letters, and given us HOPE. Hope that we are not alone. Hope that we can somehow, some day, find peace within our hearts. I want to thank each and every one of you who have gone out of your way to help bring a sparkle back to our weary eyes. It is with your comforting words, your unwavering support, and your commitment to help us, that we find the strength to stand, and put one foot in front of the other. I want to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for sharing your heart with us.
We cannot thank you enough; words alone do not give justice to our gratitude. I promise to pay it forward, I promise to continue your spirit of helping those who grieve. Together, we can make it.
Thank you!
